Pastoral Staff

Victor Winter Coordinating Pastor
Victor joined the Pastoral Ministry Team in May/09. He comes to this currently-voluntary position from the world of education. Vic is currently also working as Principal of UMEI Christian High School. One of his primary tasks is to harness and engage the many gifted parts of this congregation. Building up the body of Christ (the Church) by Spirit-led growth, through the welcoming of new members and the strengthening of faith in our current members, is Vic’s goal in working at LUMC.

David Dyck Associate Pastor
David Dyck joined our LUMC pastoral team in September 2007.  Prior to this he was the pastor of the Lendrum Mennonite Brethren Church in Edmonton, Alberta for 15 years.  His other vocational work has included high school teaching, youth work in India and truck driving.  He is married to Nancy and is father to 3 energetic boys, Andrew, Samuel and Joel.  David has a passion for the church as welcoming and out-reaching community that embodies the love of Christ for the world.

Kim Driedger Youth Pastor
Kim began her work with the Youth and Jr. Youth in November of 2008.   She seeks to create a youth program that focuses on service and teaching the youth what it means to be a follower of Christ. She also enjoys the many travels that being a Youth Pastor involves.  From Silver Lake for winter retreat to Winnipeg for Peace-it-Together, there is no better way to bond a group then to take them on a long bus ride.

Edgar Brown Transitional Administrator

On October 1, 2006, Ed joined the staff on an interim and part time basis. His flexibility allows him to work as needed and he is presently filling a 2/3 time commitment. His work is primarily administrative and includes work with the Pastoral Team, the Worship Team, Spiritual Council and Church Council. He attends the Essex Cluster and Leamington Ministerial groups when they meet. He makes sure that services at the Leamington Mennonite Home, Sun Parlour Home and Erie Glen Manor are taken care of throughout the year. His goal is to make sure that all the “behind the scenes” work involved in a large church like LUMC is looked after as new and exciting opportunities continue to appear. During this time of transition, as LUMC continues to search for additional members to the pastoral team, he works closely with our secretary and our custodian in attempting to make sure that the many details involving church life are addressed.

Paul Dueck    Minister of Music

Paul Dueck is our bi-vocational Minister of Music. Currently, he is also employed as a Music Instructor at the United Mennonite Educational Institute. Paul joined the pastoral staff in August of 2000 and gives energetic leadership to the worship music of the church. A significant portion of his time is spent conducting the LUMC Worship Choir, and guiding the congregation through a wide variety of musical styles. Members of the Soli Deo Gloria Singers have also benefited from Paul's conducting skills. As a gifted musician and vocalist, Paul finds ample opportunity to share his love of music in the broader community. He is especially recognized for his skill at playing the Paraguayan and Celtic Harp. He has compiled a number of hymns, folksongs, lullabies, and Christmas Carols and recorded these selections on three CDs.

Darrell Fast  Pastor

Darrell Fast has come out of retirement at LUMC in the past year, to give pastoral care to the many elderly members and friends in our congregation. He is on call for crisis visitation, funeral planning, and leading in funeral services. He gives leadership to the volunteer Visitation Team and meets with staff and Spiritual Council. On occasion he will be leading in worship, preaching and interacting with our children.

Support Staff

Jacquie Turnbull Office Secretary

Jacquie was welcomed as part of LUMC's Support Staff in September 2001. Past employment in both the business and finance sectors have equipped her with considerable administrative experience, particularly, those related to accounting, bookkeeping, and human resources. Her organizational skills serve her well as she juggles a variety of office related duties, as well as, the agendas of four pastors.

Ernie Brown Custodian

In his service to the church, Ernie often goes far beyond the call of duty. Ernie joined our staff in 2005 and since then he has dedicated many hours to his custodial tasks. Ernie ensures the building is in top condition for all church related activities.
